Club Coaching Grant 2009

The English Golf Union (EGU) English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA)  have a grant available to support coaching sessions for adult and junior beginners/non members and junior members.

There are two levels of funding available until the 30th November 2009:

£800 grant for golf clubs awarded GolfMark (incorporating Clubmark).

£400 grant for all other affiliated golf clubs (for the first 350 golf clubs that apply).

The Club Coaching Grant can be used to subsidise coaching costs for adults and juniors and/or advertising costs. It is recommended that the club match part of this amount.

Activities funded by the grant should not be conducted in isolation and golf clubs should look at ways of continuing beginners’ involvement in the game through further discounted lessons, packages and offers. The recruitment and retention of both adults and juniors is key to ensuring golf club membership remains healthy and the EGU/EWGA annual Club Coaching Grant can be beneficial in developing appropriate programmes.

This grant replaces the previous Junior Club Coaching and Free Golf Coaching grants.

Many Clubs organised coaching and Taster Sessions last year and as a result they are now benefitting from an increase in membership. The promotion and success of these sessions is creating great interest in the game of golf and making adults and juniors realise it is a sport that everyone can take part in.
